"TripleClicks has a new program that we're calling
local businesses about. Basically, we'd like to put your products on
TripleClicks. It's VERY simple and there's no cost to you unless we get you
sales.
TIPS:
1. The person I reach may want to ask me some questions on
the phone...right now. So I am prepared,
with the FAQs on my ECA Gateway (http://www.tripleclicks.com/11723667/ECA). If
there's a question you don't know the answer for, just say so. Say something
like, "I'm sorry, I've never had that question come up before. Can I get
that information and call you back?"
2. Generally speaking, people hate unsolicited sales calls.
They expect that you are going to waste their valuable time and they resent
this. If you sense this, assure the person who answers the phone and/or the
decision-maker that you will take no more than a minute or less of their time.
Also, be certain to emphasize that there is no risk and costs them absolutely
nothing unless we get them sales. i.e. It's a no-lose deal for them. And, of
course, be polite!

If your city has a business district, you can go from
business to business dropping off ECA literature.
The simplest way would be to drop off a copy of the ECA
Brochure. To use this brochure, you'll simply need to stamp or print your SFI
ID on the back cover so that you are credited with signups generated by your
brochures.
Ideally, you should put it in the hands of the owner or
store manager. If that's not possible (or you're not ready yet for "high
level confrontations"), you can hand the brochure to a clerk or other
store employee and request that they deliver it to the owner or store manager
on your behalf. Be sure to thank them for doing this.
Also providing a business card, while not absolutely
necessary, is a good idea. It adds professionalism and, more importantly,
provides your prospects your contact information in case they'd like to ask you
some questions later.

2. Consider a two-step approach. The next time you're buying
something at one of your favorite stores, ask the checkout clerk for the name
of the store's owner or manager. Better yet, have him or her write it down for
you (so you get the name exactly right). Now you can take this information home
with you and prepare your package which can now have this person's name on both
the envelope and on the cover letter (which will make a nice impression). Next
time you're planning to go to this store, bring your info packet along to drop
off.
